Pick: F Fognini ML Result: Pending Stake: 7/10 Odds: 1.63 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: Yes
Posted: Aug 04, 2008, 16:40
Denis Gremelmayr is without form by a very long period already, his last match was in Kitzbuhel (AUT) against L. Mayer, he lost it with 6-1 7-6. Because he is in not form and because of his injury problems he has 8 tournaments in a row without at least one victory. No doubt he has a good potential, but in tennis form is the most important thing and in these situations I see a huge advantage for Fabio Fognini who is in a good form, his last game was in Umag (CRO) against Fernando Verdasco where he lost 6-1 6-3, but he had played good tennis. Fabio Fognini is a young player who is not known as a good Hard player as he is a typical clay-courter, but at the moment he is in a much better form. The Italian man had improved his play in last two years, but still he is playing with unforced errores which is his main disadvantage, it is something normally as he is a young player. All in all both are not doing very well on Hard, but even if Fognini is not a player who can play aggressive style, he possess a good serve which will give him another advantage to hold more stable his serve.

Pick: Novak Djokovic to win 2-0 Result: Pending Stake: 8/10 Odds: 2.00 Bookmaker: Ladbrokes vCash: Yes Posted: Aug 03, 2008, 13:59
These two players had played recently in Toronto, Murray won the game 6-3 7-6, but Djokovic hasn't played at his best level then, more than that in Toronto the surface is not so faster as is here in Cincinnati. Djokovic eliminated yesterday Nadal and played great tennis, he played very well at his serve, thing that hasn't happened in Toronto and against Andy Murray beside the fact that he wasn't in his best form, his aggressive style didn't worked so well as Murray could cover the court so well and could arrive almost every ball. Nadal had a similar style as Murray, to fight for every ball, both good defenders, but even if you are so quick and have that ability to catch almost evey ball, on such faster surface if a player as Djokovic is playing at his best as he done yesterday, I mean that aggressive style with strongly and accurate shots, for the opponent is almost a impossible function to cover the court. Of course, Djokovic won't play unimpeachable every time, but after yesterday's victory with Nadal, against Murray will be a similar story. If Novak Djokovic hasn't impressed a lot in Toronto, then here he is playing much better, he had some troubles in his first match from this tournament against Simone Bolelli, but this had happened only because it was first game and because the Italian had played good tennis. No doubts about Murray's great form, cause he really is on fire right now, but today I don't think he will be able to use his best qualities and create danger as Djokovic won't let him.

Pick: I Karlovic ML Result: Pending Stake: 8/10 Odds: 2.80 Bookmaker: Sportingbet vCash: Yes
Posted: Aug 02, 2008, 12:14
If yesterday Karlovic won at tiebreak in a tight match and was as a favourite then today he is underestimated by the bookies, but let me tell you that Karlovic can make the game much more balanced then any other player, he is serving simply fantastic and that give him the huge advantage. Yesterday he played very surely on his serve, more than that he won a lot of balls at the net, where he really played with a lot of confidence and efficiency. Andy Murray comes after the game against Carlos Moya 2-6 6-3 6-1, where he had good moments of tennis, no doubts even if he is not playing at the same level as he was in Toronto, but not form is the main reason, as long as Murray won't play with stability at his serve, cause he didn't, Karlovic can't be underestimate with such odds after all his matches where he had proved how well and how surely he can play at his serve. Remember Karlovic's game against Rafael Nadal from London (grass) 6-7(5) 7-6(5) 7-6(4), and Nadal was in his best form at that tournament, so another proof that Karlovic can make the game 50/50.

Pick: P Kohlschreiber ML Result: 7-6 7-6 Stake: 5/10 Odds: 2.37 Bookmaker: BWin vCash: Yes
Posted: Aug 01, 2008, 16:14
Both players played wonderful tennis till here, Philipp Kohlschreiber comes after a very tight game against Robin Soderling while Ivo Karlovic is in the same situation. Karlovic had eliminated Roger Federer, but have to mentionate that Mister Champion hasn't played at his best, thats for sure as he had played in the same way and against Robby Ginepri, obvioulsy Federer is not in form. Kohlschreiber won against Robin Soderling, both players played very well on their serve as they have a similar style of play. Kohlschreiber is a player who can play at the same level on any surface. Karlovic poses the most fastest serve in the world, but as long as Kohlschreiber will play in the same way as he done against Soderling I can't see Karlovic's advantage here, only because he has a very faster serve is not a enough reason to make him favourite, not against Kohlschreiber who can hold his serve very surely and more than that Karlovic's return is not very good. Beside serve, Kohlschreiber is a better player who can play very aggressive not let the opponent the chance to breathe.

Pick: G Monfils ML Result: 0-2 ret. Stake: 5/10 Odds: 2.57 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: Yes
Posted: Jul 30, 2008, 00:29
No doubt about Tommy Haas's good tennis, great serve and great aggressive style, but is not the case to underrate Monfils here as he had proved that he can play very well aggressive and have a great serve too. Remember his match from Toronto against the russian player Igor Andreev, he lost it but he haf played good tennis. Since French Open, Monfils is in a great form and his injury didn't looked to affect him in last game. Tommy Haas comes after a closed match against Mikhail Youzhny, both players played very well on their serve. Monfils is still underrated on hard, but the truth is that he can play very well aggressive style. Monfils can cover better the court than Haas and has a good return, btw Tommy Haas's return didn't impressed in his game against Youzhny and only serving well can't give such an advantage him. All in all I expect a tight game as both posses great serve, but I think Monfils will be able to return more balls.

Pick: Nikolay Davydenko to win 2-0 Result: 1-2 Stake: 7/10 Odds: 2.00 Bookmaker: StanJames vCash: Yes Posted: Jul 29, 2008, 23:56
Carlos Moya comes after a tight game against Janko Tipsarevic who proved that he is a real fighter, it was an attractive match because there were a lot of ups and downs and Tipsarevic was playing with a quite risky style which sometimes was appreciated but in most cases wasn't the key to success. If we speak about the quality of the match Moya vs. Tipsarevic then I have to say that both players were just weak players, a lot of unforced errores, both played without inspiration as they couldn't cover the court and they were surprised by each other by some easy and foreseeable shots. Moya had won only because of his weak opponent, the only improvement since his last game is his serve, is a bit better now. About Davydenko, he has been eliminated by the finalist Nicolas Kiefer in three sets, but he had played a good match and before that he had eliminated Tommy Haas, in both matches he had showed good tennis, good rhythm with faster shots which I think will make the difference against Moya. The espanish man could hold serve a bit better then he did in Toronto but speaking about play, he won't be able to keep that tempo thats for sure, more than that he is doing a lot of unforced errores during a game.

Pick: J Tipsarevic ML Result: 0-2 Stake: 5/10 Odds: 1.50 Bookmaker: Interwetten vCash: Yes
Posted: Jul 29, 2008, 15:16
Moya is in a bad form, thats for sure, his last game was in Toronto where he had lost in two sets against Tommy Haas. Moya couldn't do nothing at Haas's serve. Tipsarevic's last game was against Nicolas Mahut in Toronto too, where he had lost in three sets but it was a quality match as Mahut is a good player, after that game Mahut showed against Andy Roddick good tennis. Anyway Tipsarevic is not in his best form, but the most important is Moya's form. Here is a really faster surface and Moya will have big problems, he is a typical clay-courter. Moya still has problems with his serve and he is making a lot of unforced errores during a match. On such surface you really have to hold your serve, but I don't thing the espanish will be able to do that.

Pick: Tomas Berdych to win 2-0 Result: 1-2 Stake: 6/10 Odds: 2.00 Bookmaker: Ladbrokes vCash: Yes Posted: Jul 29, 2008, 13:58
The Italian comes after his victory against Feliciano Lopez 7-5 7-5, a game with a slow rhythm, but both players had served well even if there were some moments of failure. Seppi is a defensive player who is attacking when have good position, he is playing with a lot of baseline shots and when he is trying to attack his shots are not so effective as he very few times surprised Lopez, more than that Seppi has big problems with his return, so many balls yesterday he couldn't return. Tomas Berdych comes after a tight match against Fernando Gonzalez, it was a close game, but Berdych dictated play with great forehand shots and great winners at the net. Berdych was solid on serve and on such surface I doubt Seppi could make a surprise as I repeat he has problems with his return. Berdych at the moment is playing at his best level, he was eliminated by the russian Igor Andreev in three sets in Toronto only because of a great opponent. Andreas Seppi is not playing at the same level as on clay and the main reason it seems to be that he can't cover the court as he can on clay, his movement on the baseline are not the same.

Pick: I Andreev ML Result: 1-2 Stake: 5/10 Odds: 2.25 Bookmaker: Pinnacle vCash: Yes
Posted: Jul 28, 2008, 21:55
Last Radek Stepanek's game was in Toronto against Feliciano Lopez, a match decided in three sets 4-6 6-3 6-4, I have to say that Lopez is not a player in a good form at the moment, thats for sure, after his victory against Stepanek he was eliminated by the russian Dmitry Tursunov, a game without quality, few points were decided from play and only serve was the good point. On the other hand Igor Andreev is in his best form at the moment, a meaningful reason for his good form is many games played in last period, three torunaments in a row: Gstaad, Umag and Toronto where he was eliminated in two finals and recently from Rafael Nadal, against Nadal he had showed good tennis. Overall Radek Stepanek has good potential, but the present form make the big difference here, the Czech man elementary had no time to improve his play and more than that he hasn't showed good tennis since his last game from French open against David Ferrer (on clay). Four tournaments in a row without showing at least one good match against one decent opponent: Halle, Nottingham, Wimbledon and Toronto, a so long period can't be just an accident. Confidence will surely be on Andreev's side as he had so many great games in last period against great players like: Maximo Gonzalez, Gael Monfils, Tomas Berdych, Rafael Nadal.

Pick: N Kiefer ML Result: 1-2 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.62 Bookmaker: Ladbrokes vCash: Yes
Posted: Jul 26, 2008, 11:27
After defeating Marin Cilic 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 the Frenchman has now extended his unbeaten run to nine matches, in all these games he had played as a great defender and covered very well the court. After some tight games in a row, Simon could not be so fresh for this match. The German man comes after a easy victory against James Blake 6-1, 6-2 and he should be more freshly for this fixture. Kiefer played yesterday an amazing game, where he showed that he can play as a great defensive player and in the same time can and attack very well. Simon won yesterday, because of Cilic's big number of unforced errores, Cilic is an offensive and aggressive player and he had coordinated the game in first set, but after that in second and third he simply couldn't concentrate. The result was in the great majority part stricken by Cilic's side, not the improvement of Simon. Cilic wasn't so stable as he couldn't done his job in defence, but against Kiefer the situation will be another as the German man can cope both sides: defence and attack. Simon is just a great defensive player, nothing more.
